With
everything negative that has happened this year within the Alberta
Soccer community I would like to draw attention to
the Lakeland
District Soccer Association whose website demonstrates a
level of transparency that hopefully will be emulated
by districts throughout the province. Their Administration section has
minutes from AGMs, SGMs, Operational meetings and Planning meetings all
the way back to 2001. Minutes from Board meetings back to 2007 and
Technical meeting minutes from 2002 - 2006.
For anyone who has attended an AGM recently I would like you to take a
look at the AGM
package that the members of Medicine Hat Soccer Association
had available to them. Contrast this with some districts who are unable
to supply their members with audited financial statements - SPDSA and
CMSA come to mind. Keep in mind that SPDSA had reported 2009 Revenue of
1.4 million with a registration base of about 3400 I can only imagine
what CMSA's revenue was with a registration base of a little over
10,000. At least the 10,000 they tell ASA about.
It is not all negative in the province, there are districts that are
run in a professional manner. It can be done and maybe it is time some
of the bigger districts are held to a higher bar.
